Support and resistance on XAUUSD

Support is a price level where gold has repeatedly bounced up; resistance is a level where it has repeatedly been pushed down. They are the levels the market remembers, and they are the backbone of chart reading.

Why levels work

Levels hold because traders act on memory. If price bounced at 2380 twice, buyers expect it to bounce again and place orders there, which can make the bounce happen. The more times a level has reacted, the more attention it carries.

Strong vs weak levels

A stronger level usually has more clean touches, clear reactions (not just a graze), and recent relevance. Our chart does this scoring for you: each level shows a reliability score, how many times price bounced there, and how strong the reactions were, so you can rank levels instead of drawing dozens of lines.

Bounce versus break

Levels do not last forever. When price closes firmly through a level, it often flips role: old resistance becomes support, old support becomes resistance. Watching the close (not the wick) is what separates a real break from a fake-out.

FAQ

How many touches make a level valid?

Two clean reactions is a start; three or more with strong reactions is stronger. Our chart scores this automatically.

Should I use the wick or the close?

Judge breaks by the candle close. Wicks through a level often reverse and are less reliable.
