TradingView vs XAUUSD Live Chart: an honest side-by-side

Every few weeks someone asks why they should use this chart when TradingView exists. It is a fair question and it deserves a straight answer rather than a sales pitch, so this is a plain comparison with the numbers counted rather than guessed. Short version: they are not competing for the same job. TradingView is a general platform built to chart anything and let you build your own tools on top. This site charts eight instruments and spends its effort on one thing instead, reading gold market structure and showing it on the candles. Below is where each one genuinely wins, including the parts where we lose.

Neither replaces your own decision.

The short answer

They are built for different jobs. TradingView is a general charting platform: almost every market on earth, a scripting language, and a community library so large you can find an indicator for anything. This site charts eight instruments and nothing else, but the market-structure analysis that you would normally have to build or buy is already running on the chart.

If you trade many markets and like building your own tools, TradingView is the better home. If you trade gold and want the structure read for you, this chart does that out of the box. Plenty of people keep both open, and that is a perfectly sensible answer.

02

Where TradingView is clearly better

It would be dishonest to pretend otherwise, so here it is plainly.

  • Coverage. Tens of thousands of symbols across stocks, futures, crypto, forex and indices. We have eight.
  • Custom indicators. Its scripting language lets you build and backtest your own ideas. We do not offer scripting at all.
  • The community library. Thousands of published indicators and strategies, plus ideas from other traders.
  • Layouts and workflow. Multi-chart layouts, screeners, watchlists, broker integration and mature mobile apps.
  • Maturity. It is a large product with a long history and a full support organisation behind it.

If any of those matter to how you work, nothing here replaces them.

03

Where this chart is better, with the actual numbers

Our advantage is narrow and deliberate. Everything below is counted from the live chart, not estimated.

  • 120 analysis tools in 12 groups — market structure, zones, levels, liquidity, order flow, sessions and Volume Spread Analysis, all toggled from the toolbar.
  • 56 analysis engines running server-side on every refresh, so the reading is the same for everyone looking at the chart.
  • 41 Volume Spread Analysis patterns detected and labelled on the candles, with the confirmation shown separately from the detection.
  • Confirmation on candle close only. Nothing is marked from a wick or a forming candle, which is the single biggest source of signals that vanish when you reload.
  • Gold context built in — a USD-only economic calendar, a gold news ticker and session markers on the same screen.
  • 10 timeframes from one minute to monthly, and 13 chart themes.

On TradingView you could reproduce some of this with scripts, and traders do. That is exactly the difference: there, the structure reading is a project; here, it is the product.

04

Order blocks and every setup on the same chart

This is the part people usually miss when they compare the two. On this chart the zones and the setups are not separate products you bolt on — they are all on one screen, toggled from one toolbar.

Zones and order blocks (12 tools): Order Blocks, multi-timeframe order blocks, Smart Zones, Supply and Demand, Best zones, Flip zones, Unicorn, FVG, Zone Master, ZONES-X and multi-timeframe overlap. Order blocks alone come in a single-timeframe and a multi-timeframe version, so you can see an H4 block and an M15 block on the same candles.

Setups (17 in three groups): twelve in the Setups menu — Sultan SMC, Trap Cycle, Snap Back, Echo Point, Golden Hour, Day Box, Wave Sync, TL Liquidity, Reversal, Engulfing, Sniper and Sniper zones — three VIP models (Liquidity Sweep, Breakout-Retest, HTF FVG Continuation), and two institutional ones. Turn on as many or as few as you want.

On a general platform each of those would be a separate script. Stacking a dozen of them runs into indicator limits on the free tier, and more importantly they do not agree with each other: every script has its own swing detection, its own lookback, its own idea of what counts as a break. You end up with three tools drawing three different structures on the same candles.

Here they share one engine set. The same swing detection, the same closed-candle rule and the same market structure feed every zone, every setup and every marker. So when the order block, the liquidity sweep and the VSA signal all point the same way, that agreement means something — they are reading one chart, not three.

Instruments and history

Eight instruments: gold and silver, three dollar pairs, two yen pairs and bitcoin, plus the dollar index for cross-checking. That is the whole list, chosen because they are what gold traders actually watch alongside gold.

History depth as it stands today: about 52 hours on the one-minute chart, 15 days on five-minute, 45 days on fifteen-minute, 121 days on hourly, roughly a year on four-hour and close to four years of daily candles. That is enough to read structure and to backtest by eye; it is not a research archive, and a general platform will give you far more.

06

Cost, honestly

TradingView has a free tier with limits, and paid tiers that lift them. Our chart is behind a free members login, with no paid tier at the time of writing. Do not read that as “cheaper is better” — it mostly reflects that we do one market and one job, so there is much less to run.

07

So which should you use?

A simple way to decide:

  • You trade several markets, or you want to build your own indicators — TradingView.
  • You trade gold, and you want structure, liquidity and volume read for you on closed candles — this chart.
  • You want a broad platform for planning and a focused one for the gold session — both, which is what most of our members do.

If you are still choosing between free options in general, the wider roundup is in best free XAUUSD charts, and the platform-by-platform view, including MT4 and MT5 and broker apps, is in where to watch the XAUUSD live chart.

08

One thing neither of them does

Neither chart decides for you. Ours labels structure, marks zones and shows where a setup would be valid; it does not tell you to buy or sell, and it does not know your risk. A tool that reads the market well still leaves the decision, the size and the stop entirely with you. Anything that claims otherwise is selling something.

Q

FAQ

Is this a TradingView alternative?

For gold specifically, it can replace your day-to-day chart. As a general platform it does not come close, and it is not trying to: eight instruments against tens of thousands is not a comparison we would win.

Can I use my own indicators here?

No. There is no scripting. The tools on the chart are fixed, which is the trade-off for having them already built and running the same way for everyone.

Is the price data the same?

Both show live gold. Prices are indicative and will differ slightly from your broker, as they will on any charting site. Always check your own broker before acting.

Do I have to pay?

No. The chart is behind a free members login and there is no paid tier at the time of writing.
